The Main Objective of the “Identity Beyond Labels: The Psychology of Selfhood, Disability, and Being Seen” Course:
Enable participants to understand the psychological foundations of identity and self-concept, recognize how labels and social assumptions can shape self-perception, explore the role of disability within personal identity, and develop greater awareness of self-acceptance, self-advocacy, and authentic self-worth beyond ability, productivity, appearance, or external approval.
Target Audience:
People with disabilities, individuals with lived experiences of being reduced to a label, students, youth, disability support groups, and anyone interested in understanding identity, self-worth, and the psychological impact of being seen through only one characteristic.
